Ukrainian Cyrillic has letters Russian lacks, і, ї, є and ґ, and it does without ы, э and ё. Г is a voiced h, as in гора, while ґ is a hard g, as in ґанок. Text typed on a Russian layout often carries the wrong letters, so switch to a Ukrainian keyboard and check every і and ї.
Stress is free and not written, and it can change meaning: за́мок is a castle, замо́к is a lock. Preview words like these and rephrase if the reading is wrong. The 2019 spelling rules changed some words, such as проєкт for the older проект. Follow the current rules unless your audience expects the old forms.
Use the vocative when you address someone: Олена becomes Олено, and пан Іван becomes пане Іване. Write Ви for customers, with a capital in letters to one person. Dates are written as 24 серпня 2026 року, with no point after the day. Preview Latin-script brand names, and add any misread one to the pronunciation dictionary.

No. The languages share the Cyrillic alphabet and some vocabulary, but letters, sounds and many words differ, and a Russian voice misreads і, ї, є and ґ. For a Ukrainian audience the choice of language also matters in itself. Write in Ukrainian and choose a Ukrainian voice from this page.
Numbers change their ending with case, and so does the noun after them: два будинки but п'ять будинків. A figure leaves the voice to guess the form, so write numbers in words where grammar matters, as in у п'яти містах. Use a decimal comma and a space between thousands.
