Gujarati letters grew out of the same family as Devanagari but drop the line along the top, so a Hindi reader will recognise many shapes. Spelling of short and long vowels varies a lot in print. The Sarthak Jodanikosh of Gujarat Vidyapith is the usual reference. Pick one spelling for each word, keep it through the script, and preview any word you are unsure of.

Use તમે for customers and viewers, and આપ for very formal lines, such as an official welcome or a wedding invitation. તું suits friends and children only. Kathiyawadi speech from Saurashtra and Surti speech from south Gujarat sound different from the Ahmedabad standard. Write in standard Gujarati unless a character or a local ad needs that colour.

Shop signs and Gujarati newspapers often use Gujarati digits, such as ૧૦૦, while digital ads mostly use 100. Count large sums in લાખ and કરોડ, and write the currency as રૂપિયા. Scripts for families in the US or the UK often name places like New Jersey or Leicester. Preview them, and add a fixed reading to the pronunciation dictionary.
